ADA: THE INSPIRATION BEHIND OUR NAME

33 years ago, when we started this business project, we looked for a source of inspiration that would reflect our commitment to innovation and technology. That is how we found Ada Lovelace, recognized as the first programmer in history. Ada, an English mathematician and writer, was a pioneer in understanding the potential of computers as tools capable of going beyond calculation, opening the door to programming as a means of solving complex problems.

Augusta Ada Byron (1815-1852), better known as Ada Lovelace, was the first to intuit that machines could manipulate symbols and not just numbers, laying the foundations for what we know today as computer programming. According to UNESCO, she was the first person to publish an algorithm designed to be executed by a machine, an achievement that places her at the forefront of the history of computing.

Lovelace argued that programs can only do what humans can teach them, suggesting that artificial intelligence is not capable of generating original ideas without human intervention. This vision, ahead of its time, remains a point of reflection in the debate over the role of AI in today’s society.

In recognition of her legacy, the programming language “Ada” is named after her. In addition, the second Tuesday in October is celebrated as Ada Lovelace Day, a date dedicated to honoring the contributions of women to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

For all these reasons, we chose the name ADA, a symbol of our commitment to technological excellence and the legacy of those who, like Ada Lovelace, have marked a before and after in the world of computing.
